Hello All, ... Big week here! Last monday I married my true love. I have also found that after 3 years of being single as a parent I am learning via my spouse that I am allowed to let her help me out now. I find myself tripping myself up over little things. my habits are a bit different then hers so we are adjusting to our different ways of life. yep we are having fun ... I will be posting pics as soon as i get them, see you all soon ... bye for now ...
As I recall, the Grammy Awards were the other night. I didn’t watch. I was busy viewing reruns of “Arrested Development” over on HULU. Supposedly, this really pregnant chick sang, some kids from Nickelodeon got to jam with Stevie Wonder and a dude from Led Zeppelin won an award for singing with this chick from a bluegrass band. Sounds bizarre ... Since my wife is pregnant, my kids watch Nickelodeon and I love Led Zeppelin and bluegrass, I have come to the conclusion that I should give out
This morning’s mad rush to get out of the door on time was side tracked by my daughter. She lost her shoes. Actually, she lost her back up pair of shoes. She lost her everyday pair of shoes last week. I tore the house apart, searched the garage, and scoured the front yard, back yard and side yard. No shoes! ... Our choice of footwear for the day was between an old pair of church shoes, that were 3 sizes too small and a one size fits all pair of pink fuzzy snow boots. She chose the snow boots.
I taught and worked as an administrator in secondary school arts for almost a decade, and to be honest I probably didn’t encounter more than a handful of true Stage Mothers or Fathers in all that time. But those I did come across were utterly terrifying. They are basically the same creature as the parent that screams at their kid from the bleachers -- living vicariously, losing touch with the real stakes of a situation, injecting themselves into all situations regardless of how inappropriate
My dad used to own a small business and worked a lot of hours so he wasn't able to attend many functions, but when he did show up it meant so much that it really burned a moment in my memory bank. Now that I am a father I make it a point to be there for as much as I can (which is just about everything) that it got me wondering if in the grand scheme of things will it get taken for granted? ... The parenting gurus talk about making every moment count but is "love" and "attention" really the same
Finally! A place to talk about being a father. To hear from other guys who are, and who have been in my position for years. I've been looking around DadLabs for a couple of days now, and this is great. EXACTLY what I've been looking for ... Dani (the Wifey) is due April 17th, and I've found that I'm not really worried about what I thought I would be worried about. I thought I'd worry about raising him/her right. Dani and I talk a LOT about parenting, and we really try to get on the same page
Some odds and ends from the weekend that was ... I am completely justified/exonerated in getting the new car. With Coop in the back seat, I’m cruising down 360 at or near the posted speed of 60mph, when dude in his 1995 Ford Escort “Sport” darts out from behind cars on the crossover, directly in front of me. In a move that made Jeff Gordon wince even though he didn’t know why, I stomped on the brakes hard enough to engage the anti-locks and the traction control ... If had been in my old
I just stumbled upon this site yesterday and I must say I love it. Smart, funny and stuff that I can relate too. As a stay at home dad I have forever been looking for an outlet that I can relate to. So many other parent sites are so mother centered that they find little room for father issues and don't get me started on "parents" magazines. To see things on this site that a father can relate to is a joy. Dads get such a bad rap these days that it is so refreshing to find a place that doesn't
